How to update Asus G50V Hackintosh to OS X Mavericks 10.9.2.
Apple has released OS X Mavericks update 10.9.2 which contains some needed security fixes, some bug fixes and a few new features. You can read about the new features and fixes for 10.9.2 here. Since the security fixes are needed, I decided to go ahead and update my Asus G50V Hackintosh from 10.9.0 to 10.9.2. If you have installed OS X Mavericks on your Asus G50V Hackintosh, then this guide will help you with the update. I cannot tell you if this will work with any other Hackintosh, as all are unique.
Run 10.9.2 Software Update
I was able to run the update straight from the Software Update utility built in to OS X Mavericks. Simply click Update to start the download and update process.
After the update has downloaded and started, it will need to reboot the computer to finish the installation. Once the update is finished, it will prompt you to sign in with your Apple ID. Go ahead and sign in and continue.
Agree to the Terms
You will need to agree to the terms of the update.
You should now be at the desktop. You will need to repair permissions on the OS X disk drive. Open Terminal from the Utilities folder and type in the following command:
sudo diskutil repairPermissions /
You should now have an updated Asus G50V Hackintosh. Here you will see that it is installed and working.
